What is Polarity?
Polarity Therapy is a comprehensive alternative natural health care system to help bring the body’s energy into balance by combining various therapeutic touch, gentle, rocking or stimulating energy based bodywork, nutritional counselling, yoga-type stretching postures and self-awareness. The combination of these principles forms the basis for every aspect of life. It improves the flow of energy in the body, bringing greater balance to the whole system ( body, mind, and spirit). It is based upon the universal principles of energy: attraction, repulsion, and neutrality (Positive, Negative and Neutral) It was developed by Randolph Stone (a chiropractor, osteopath, and naturopath), who conducted a thorough investigation through the healing arts.
How Does Polarity Therapy Work?
The human body is an energy system like a battery It has positive, negative and neuter poles and currents of energy that flow through them. The therapist’s hands are placed on a the body and the energy flow can be stimulated or slowed down. The therapist works on the body’s soft tissues and energy points, using one or more of three forms of touch: neutral (very light), positive (stimulating), and negative (deep).
How it works is to think of your body as a car battery, positive (red wire) and negative (black wire) and she is a channel for the energy to flow through.. This gets the current moving, which allows energy flow in the body to occur. This helps knots, tension, blockage or sore spots to melt away. This causes the nervous system to respond, passing the impulses to the endocrine system, which releases its hormones into the blood stream. When the energy is in balance, the body starts to align, the immune system activates, the mind clears, which helps with inspiration and strength. The energy flow allows a body to feel a depth of relaxation that a person normally doesn’t allow themselves to feel.
Yoga and Meditation
Polarity therapy also incorporates a series of yoga-type Stretching postures designed to release stagnant energy, improve energy flow, and restore balance Often the postures are combined with vocal expression to further stimulate the flow of energy. The exercises need only be done for a few minutes each day to help to keep the body flexible and be effective.

Nutritional counselling: Diet is also an important part of polarity therapy and a practitioner may suggest modifications in a client’s nutritional regimen to help and support the energy balancing done during the bodywork portion of the therapy.
